Initial Situation

At the end of 2025, CASEA GmbH invested approximately €1.6 million in a new packaging line for its gypsum products at its Sulzheim plant. The modern system was designed not only to increase productivity but also to operate with significantly less dust than the previous solution. This created the ideal opportunity to modernize the product marking technology as well.

The large-format DOD printers used to date were only able to meet the increased demands for print quality and flexibility to a limited extent. Therefore, the company sought a solution that would enable high-resolution printing, reliably apply QR codes and barcodes, and at the same time reduce the effort required to operate the system.

Solution

CASEA selected the ResMark 5000 high-resolution large character printer from Diagraph.

From the very beginning, CASEA and Diagraph worked closely together. From the initial print tests and project planning through to the trial operation phase, the project was managed collaboratively and implemented successfully.

The system is currently operating in a test phase and will subsequently run in a two-shift operation from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. At present, the printer operates as a stand-alone solution. Integration with the company’s ERP system is already planned. Thanks to its flexible architecture, the ResMark 5000 is ideally suited for both autonomous operation and future integration into existing IT and production networks.

Improvements for Customers

New print layout

With the ResMark 5000, CASEA has achieved a significant improvement in marking quality. Production data, QR codes, and other information are printed clearly and legibly on the gypsum bags. At the same time, employees benefit from more intuitive operation and simplified workflows.

Helmut Weiß, Plant Manager at CASEA Sulzheim, confirms the advantages in daily operation:

“The print quality is very good despite the dusty environment, and operating the printer via the display on the production line is much easier than before.”

The solution also impresses with its high reliability in day-to-day production. In most cases, only the production date and time are printed. This process runs fully automatically once the system is switched on. When special markings are required, the corresponding print layouts can be loaded quickly and easily.

CASEA particularly appreciates the system’s operational reliability. Helmut Weiß explains:

“We switch on the system in the morning, and the printer simply works. We are extremely satisfied with both the ResMark 5000 and the support provided by Diagraph.”

In addition to the improved print quality and ease of use, CASEA sees significant future potential in the planned network integration.

Conclusion

With the ResMark 5000, CASEA has successfully modernized the marking of its gypsum bags. The combination of high print quality, ease of operation, and reliable performance fully meet the company’s requirements.

The positive experience at the Sulzheim plant has been so convincing that the next step is already clear: when the second production line is modernized, a ResMark 5000 will also be installed there.

This project demonstrates how modern marking technology can not only improve print quality but also simplify processes and complement investments in new production equipment.
