Serradora Boix, a company with over 50 years of experience in the wood industry, relies on innovative and sustainable solutions in production. To optimize the marking process for pallets, the company switched to large character printers from Diagraph in 2021. The IJ4000 and ResMark 5000 models used replace the previous method of branding and offer numerous advantages.

Challenge: High costs and low flexibility in branding

Before the changeover, pallets were marked with gas-fired branding irons. This led to high energy costs and a lack of flexibility in the design of the markings. In addition, production had to be stopped for branding, which impaired the efficiency of the entire system.

Requirements for the new labeling solution

Serradora Boix needed a labeling technique that:

  • is controlled centrally,
  • is cost-efficient,
  • reacts flexibly to different brands and customer requirements,
  • is harmless to health.

Implementation and technical adjustments

By switching to Diagraph printing systems, Serradora Boix was able to successfully overcome the challenges it had previously faced. One particular requirement was the marking of around 200 different customer logos. While longer downtimes were previously necessary to mount and heat new branding stamps, the changeover is now carried out seamlessly via the ERP system. The print images are created in the Nicelabel software and sent directly to the printers.

Cooperation with Diagraph

"The service at Diagraph is excellent. From installation to ordering ink, everything runs smoothly." - Ramon Marginet, Director Industrial, Serradora Boix. "The collaboration with Diagraph went smoothly. From implementation to ongoing support, the company has always been a reliable partner."

Productive use and initial successes

The printing systems from Diagraph are in use at Serradora Boix on a production line with four printers. The results speak for themselves:

  • Cost reduction: "By switching from branding stamps to direct printing, the costs for labeling have been reduced by around 80%." - Ramon Marginet
  • Increased productivity: The changeover takes place in seconds without interrupting production.
  • Safety gain: No more use of gas-powered torches.

Conclusion and future outlook

Serradora Boix is extremely satisfied with the solution from Diagraph. The implementation has not only led to cost savings, but has also significantly improved the efficiency and safety of production. Future expansions of the labeling solution are not ruled out.
