Inkjet printing replaces blind embossing on sachets
In 2019, Mr. Björn Ickes, Head of Application Egineering / R&D, was looking for replacements for blind embossing dies for marking sachets. In addition to the devices from other manufacturers, the Thermo Inkjet Diagraph TJ500 was also taken into the closer selection. “With the TJ, we were particularly impressed by the cost-effectiveness and the low purchase price. We were also looking for a device that could also print light colors so that we could mark dark packaging,” emphasizes Mr. Ickes. In addition, the ability to control multiple printheads from one controller was important in choosing Diagraph’s printer.
Diagraph TJ500 with high-contrast print image and fast chart changeover
Compared to blind embossing, thermal inkjet offers decisive advantages. First, it prints an easy-to-read, high-contrast label on the packaging film. Depending on the foil color, the corresponding ink can be inserted via the cartridge. Secondly, batch changeover now only takes one to two minutes, as opposed to 15 to 20 minutes for blind embossing. This saves changeover time and increases the capacity utilization of the filling lines.
Maintenance-free and easy to operate
“Both the technicians who installed the printers on the line and the operators who set the print image directly via the control system get along very well with the TJ,” emphasizes Mr. Ickes. The operation is simple and quick to learn. In addition, the TJ500 is completely maintenance-free, as the print head is also automatically replaced when the cartridge is changed.
Three good reasons for the Diagraph TJ500 Thermal Inkjet
For Björn Ickes, there are three main reasons why they chose the TJ500:
1. the comparatively low purchase price.
2. the wide color range of ink cartridges.
3. the ease of installation and operation.
“We were looking for a cost-effective and flexible marking solution for our production. We made a very good choice with the TJ500,” explains Björn Ickes.
